PAINTING

Painting is coming along slowly but surely. I have been looking into the Army painter stuff and seriously considering giving it a try.It is kind of expensive but looks pretty easy to use. And the results look really good. I saw a video where some one painted and entire army in ten days.

Ancient Warfare magazine pod cast

Last week I down loaded the Ancient warfare magazine pod cast off itunes. It is great really informative. I guess it is a little off topic nd not strictly speaking war game related but it is well done and is about well ancient warfare

Bases

I ran out of bases and have been having a heck of a time finding 20mm bases. I went out to the local shop three time and even emailed them never got a strieght answers. I gave it one more try on Saturday. I got the answer no then it was "oh we have those but they are in the back room" I swear it was like the Python Cheese shop sketch!So I thought I was getting two packs of thirty but what I actually got was two packs of 72! so all end well!

I recieved my copy of Hail Caesar Friday and have been reading through it. Now I just need to get my Legion painted and find some one to play with.

Speaking of books and Amazon.ca, I also "pre ordered Hail Caesar rule book from them. No exclusive figure and I have to wait but it was considerably cheaper as well as the free IS shipping.

Finally picked up a copy of Philip Matyszak's LEGIONARY. It is a funny and informative read. Not a bad price too ordered from Amazon.ca for $20.00 Canadian.

I decided to continue on and finish my Legionary comand first I have based and primed my signifier. Should have him finished this weekend.

New minatures

Well my package varied from England today. Figures in good shape really pretty fast delivery eleven thumbs up I highly recommend ordering direct from Warlord! I will certainly do it again.

Ceturion

Almost finish my Centurion! A couple of hiccups though The gravel for the base I used was a little to big, and I should have read the instructions for the decals a little better luckily they give you a few spare ones!

Legionaries

On a better note I built and primed three figures it would have been 4 with out the casualty. I decided to start with my legionaries and put the Praetorians on hold. I did two legionaries and the centurion. They don't look like much now but I think I should have them finished tonight and if so I will post some pictures.

First casualty

My legion suffered its first casualty. Last night when I was putting some figures together some figures I had a super glue mishap. Glue ran all over the side of one of my legionaries. I have not had a look in the light of day but I am pretty sure its done. Good thing I ordered my optiones.

More new Troops

I added more troops today. I ordered them directly from Warlords web site, I figured I would take advantage of the free shipping. I picked up the tree optios, a auxiliary command and the imperial officers one mounted the other on foot. I know I know I have not even made a dent in the ones I have I just thought it seemed like a good idea at the time and it was a good price and shipping was free. The pictures above are of painted miniature off of Warlords Miniatures my new favorite site.

New Troops

Added some more troops to my legion today. I found a really great game shop just down the road from where I live. I picked up a box of legionaries. I had every intention of doing some painting tonight but that does not look like its going to happen.

First try

Well I made another stab at it and I am not totally unhappy with the results. They are not great pictures witch is okay because it is not a great paint job but I am satisfied I know I will get better. I feel like I am on a roll now. I will do a few more and once I am proficient I will attempt a special figure.

onager catapult

I have had some health issues lately and have not been up to posting anything but things are getting back to normal. I have not actually done any more work on my miniatures. On a mostly unrelated note I did build a working model of an onager catapult. It works pretty good was really easy to make and it is pretty solid.
